Oyster mushrooms, Pleurotus ostreatus, eat Petroleum Oil.
Hair mats and other absorbent buffers deployed to clean up oil spills from water and land, can be gathered and cleaned as a growing base for Oyster Mushrooms. Not only do Oyster Mushrooms digest and grow from crude oil, but they also break it down so that the oil is not present in their bodies and can be left in the environment or even eaten. Links?
