My Reasons for Daring to Be Wrong –

I believe architects must dare to study multiple disciplines, even though i know through experience that specialists will always know their topics better. Professionals are very protective of their trade, lest someone try to replace them, take what is theirs, and mingle it with other disciplines inappropriately. This is what architects do to design buildings, although to us it is valid appropriation to make something greater than its parts, and possibly new (gasp)! As an amateur historian of philosophy I realize most things that i think i know, someone will claim to know better. I dare because the comparing and contrasting interests me, whether right or wrong according to whomever. One thing that professors are reluctant to admit for obvious reasons, is that education is ongoing even for teachers. Not only do we learn new things as we grow old, but also we forget things unless practiced, and can find out we were wrong about some things. If only for the sake of poetry i feel i have something to express, no matter how much others want to attack my work for perceived flaws. Even i can argue against most of my points and assumptions, no matter which ones i like more, although i do try to be as accurate as i feel is correct for my way of thinking. I certainly agree there are many facts which most of us can consider objective. Most days however, i feel it is all pointless. So i struggle against my own will to create. The passion i summon against depression can result in a very neutral state which I can call sanity, and that self is always there peering into the void of meaning and the well of mimir.

Why bother trying to be always correct (right is a direction)? Daring to be wrong can be enough sometimes. Many people think that many other people are wrong about a great many things, and their opinions can change sometimes. Admitting we are wrong can be hard, but it is easier when we assume nothing in reality is perfect.

Snobs Cry “Don’t Punish Success”

I have heard the cries of the successfully wealthy and powerful, “Do not punish success.”; from the brilliant actor that satirizes Trump (Alec Baldwin), to the angry metal band that cut off their long hair in the name of maturity (Metallica). As a fan of both Baldwin and Metallica, I appreciate their artistic mastery of craft, and believe that if any one earned the right to be rich by working hard I am sure that they did; however to not understand that the very art that they did was often anti-authoritarian is mystifying to me. Perhaps fame blinds many to hypocrisy, as their same angry fighting spirit that got them there, wants to cling on to “what is rightfully, not wrongfully, theirs”?

When I listen to Metallica’s music, and then i hear them speak about how they do not understand ‘this new desire to rebel against authority’, i wonder how out of touch they have to be to not have learned more wisdom from their own lyrics…. “Master of Puppets is pulling your strings”. To be fair to Metallica, I first heard the cries for mercy from the lead singer of Kiss in his auto-biography; as though it were so much easier to become rich back then, and luck has nothing to do with opportunities or hard work. Talent speaks for itself, and being successful at your craft means being able to sustain yourself enough to do it. Any wealth, power, and fame that comes with successful talent is just layers of responsibility that they can accept, but must let go of eventually, even if it has to be pried from their cold skeleton hands in the grave by robbers. If an archeologist preserves their remains clinging to their assets, ok fine.

Money and popularity makes people into gods, so if their worshipers are jealous there is really not much law abiding citizens can do. The gods can proclaim that jealousy should be punished, but not greed; and have their will carried out in the halls of justice, in favor of divine corporations over individuals. ‘Might is right, and weakness is wrong’; did this problem of human existence eat away at Nietzsche’s mind as his body gave way to illness? Ethics may be for the weak, but Jesus did promise that the meek shall inherit the earth. Promises, promises. I see no evidence that the rich are being punished more than average people. In reality evil seems to win by brutalizing those who cannot control them, even while their corruption pollutes the planet.

Those that really care about you will want to be as emotionally close as possible as often as is mutually beneficial. Apathy, Hatred, or Love are feelings individuals can choose to show to other people to form relationships of all kinds. From my teen years i think i felt hatred and jealousy more often than love and compassion in my life into early adult-hood; after flipping the scales to favor love and compassion i feel much happier and peaceful. Yes i still get mad, but im better at focusing my anger to achieve tasks, and not harm others.

Reality is broad spectrum. When we get caught up with rejecting things because of an ideal of perfection, we can so easily deny ourselves the happiness of enjoying diversity in reality. Sure the diversity can be frustrating too, but life is a balance between judging, participating, and simply observing.

Yes size matters to many animals for various mating behaviors; unless they are birds who prefer color display, or humans with intellect who value the individual as a person rather than only based on one or two physical aspects. Bigger does seem to be better when it comes to being mainstream sexist with certain primates, i know that much.

People create markets by desire, as a perceived want or need; intentional or not.

One beautiful thing about being Neo-Pagan is that you can believe in the gods and goddesses as mythological metaphor (like Joseph Campbell).

Ego is simply the ‘self’ conscious mind in psychology.

As an architect that actively practiced for over a decade, industrial convention blocked my environmental efforts on every level. It was my experience that has led me to pursue alternative education on a social level without the pressure of ‘judge, jury, and executioner’ i faced with every client project. I still practice environmental architecture, but now i do so on my own terms, by practicing SCOD adaptive techniques of self-employment and organic networking. Even digital does not have to be commercial, and some day commercial does not have to so destructive and ignorant.

Regarding how other people treat us, remember we are Arbiters of Personal Opinion – many people will be critical without caring how their opinion will affect you; many will say honestly harsh things with no compassion using the blanket excuse that ‘they are helping you’ even if the opposite is true, many will tell you how to do things just to be bossy because they were bullied by others, and they need to make themselves seem better; we can take or leave harsh medicine pushed on us because opinions are indeed as common as smells, some are appropriate for the nose smelling them and some are not, because smells are connected to memories, and memories connected to emotions. Also opinions of opinions change. My opinion is that most people do not care about most other people, and although it is based on professional experience, that opinion may change over time.

Willingness to share and include others is a key to ethical progress. Even when conflict of boundaries arises, and differing opinions are asserted, it is this ‘key’ that is most important. As a friend of mine recently said, “the old concept of copyright is outdated”.

New-Age Testament & Neo-Pagan Scripture

by Drogo Empedocles 2013

Introduction

Multiple religious myths and spiritual magics for polytheistic Neo-Pagans

This book is a modern eclectic Pagan Bible. It is the personal beliefs of Prophet Drogo Empedocles, and his interpretation of world religions, New-Age philosophy, and Neo-Pagan magic. Polytheistic Celtic-Wiccan influence is finally proudly written here, in contrast to many Hebrew, Christian, and Muslim beliefs; because of their doctrines of cultural war against Pagans. As a handbook guide of holy Pagan scripture, this book is meant to be a shield and a sword for our faith, in the hands of the chosen guardians. This Pagan Bible includes stories about the magical town of Harpers Faery, and is a combination of historic-fiction, occult magic, and autobiography.

Eclectic-Pagan Celtic-Wiccan New-Age Bible

The word bible, is from the Greek word biblia, meaning simply books. According to religious tradition a bible is also a canon of holy scripture; an authoritative collection of rule books. The dominant rule of this Neo-Pagan Bible is the proclamation of a new covenant with ancient religions, modern Paganism, culture, and individuals in the form of universal spirituality, and acceptance of unique personal magic, and our diverse environments within the Universe. Most of the major religious rule books are now outdated guides. Please help spread the good news of the Pagan Bible!

The word pagan, from Latin paganus, means “rural country folk”. Paganism usually refers to religions or beliefs which are polytheistic or indigenous (non-Christian). Within Paganism are categories such as polytheism, shamanism, pantheism, or animism. Neo-Paganism is the revival of the ancient old ways, adapted in a new way for our modern times. There are many important reasons for this “New-Age” movement, but perhaps most of all Neo-Paganism exists because Mother Earth deserves some respect again, more than ever before!

In various religious and spiritual writings, we may find some answers; or at least stories we can relate to, and are helpful. We may also become upset or troubled by what we read. One curious pattern to notice about written history and other bibles, is how their texts ignore and degrade goddesses, women, and nature-based faiths in general. While mythical stories may be interesting, it is only through our own self-realized connection to civilization and nature that we may put ourselves in context with the true Universe. Remember we are not alone, even when we feel alone.

My name is Drogo Empedocles, and I am a faery. Well, part faery anyway. It is complicated, so I will explain my blood line later. I call myself a faery because fae magic is in my blood, and most of my friends are faeries of one kind or another. I wrote this as my Bible, and it is based on my beliefs and my home town. I encourage everyone to write their own bible. History happens to real people everyday (before it becomes history). This Bible supports polytheism, faerie equal rights, and bloody swear words; in addition to conventional biblical morality and multicultural ethics. This is my Bible.

Utilitarian Debate Metaphor

Posted in Matras Quotes Tips with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on February 9, 2013 by Drogo

This parable is about the interaction of two units, and their relationship. When trying to loosen a pipe and meeting resistance, I try to remember to try turning it another way; because if I am wrong about the direction I can break it (ive broken nuts and threads before). Debates are communication interactions between sides of an issue, regarding differences, advocating one over another for the sake of proving cases; this is similar to sex, plumbing, and carpentry.

The sexual connection between the male part (pipe or bolt) and its female fixture (linkup or nut) is a metaphor for discussions, besides being a useful plumbing or carpentry tip.  Cooperation being the proper function of tightening or loosening, between the two objects. Strongly stressing an issue or party in one direction may result in fractures. Sex is also naturally related to Life in general.
