SCOD Design and Imagination – Theory Essay [recording]

Why study SCOD design? Be prepared not only for possible problems by designing better now; but also if there are systemic collapses, having a core homestead village for redesigning a new way of life will be important. People who can afford independent homesteads will have them, but those without enough money need more affordable housing now and in the future.

Some willing and able to share space will be the heart of a scod village, others will be on the fringes as independent owners or temporary visitors; but having communal space for everyone is important for social life, public events, and council meetings. If everyone could afford their own property and everything they need like rich people, then most would do that; but the reality is that currently the way our economy works is that most people cannot earn enough to afford an independent life, and so most people need shared public property but rarely get enough from our federal, state, or local governments.

SCOD focuses more on philosophy and psychology than militant or religious preppers, because the hardest test of conventional friendship or survival during an emergency is living with people. Knowing how to get basic needs met is critical, including during the most likely emergency scenarios (natural disaster, pandemic, or war); so that comes first. Once you know where to get your food, water, and shelter; the scod design method of infinite combinations will be based on access flow diagrams (see ‘SCOD Thesis’ for examples). SCOD does not encourage everyone to collect guns or have the same religion, because freedom and peace are mainly to be encouraged without force. Diversity of martial and work training, with healing arts and cultural beliefs are the core of scod negotiations, and the spices for the flavor of life.

Working and planning with all kinds of people does not need to be permanent. Diverse experience does not need to be a risky investment, it can best be achieved with limited projects with cooperative practice. The purpose of tests and exercises are to determine what works, and what does not for those involved. Dedication and trust are earned over time, and we simply cannot be dedicated to trusting everything in every way. We learn what is reasonable to expect with wisdom by trial and error, and we learn our own limits for negotiations. If there is no reason to invest in an unstable situation, it is wise to move on.

If the factors work well they will, but there are so many possible scenarios that those who enjoy the joy of design and writing can explore possible plans without the costs of construction. We make do with what we have, and when we need more we can get it with will-power. The factors of design are as important to scod life as the basic elements they are based on, because scod design theory is a religion of architecture in that it should remind us the purpose of possessing, sharing, and maintaining structures and spaces. Exploring scod design theory is possible even if we never find the best possible factors with serious partners, and this point is the power of imagination. We can dream and be creative even if we have serious mental disabilities, physical disabilities, or are in prison or under quarantine. Enjoy yourself, scod.

Sunflowers are not afraid to look proudly into the sky at the Sun. We can handle the truth of our political reality, and take democratic responsibility. RISE UP children of the SUN!!! The sky is our limit. We have the right to grow organic gardens! We have the right to vote for who we want! We have the right to pursue our dreams!

The Federal ‘REAL ID’ program in Maryland is forcing every legal citizen to show additional proof they are not illegal, because they messed up, rather than do some research and only call in those that are suspected as illegal. In Nazi Germany they started with the Jews, but made every one live under martial law. The real terrorists are the ones perpetuating violence on a mass scale in the world for profit. Keep looking up beautiful sunflowers.

The World Wars gave national profits to corporations, while we killed each-other in other countries. To know why it happened, we should look at the corporations that profited, even on the losing sides of the world wars. I think Ike was talking about them when he mentioned the MIC. Our private prisons are like fascist concentration camps, because they profit from mass incarceration. Our fossil fuel companies control our politicians using lobbyists, denying our votes for green jobs and less pollution. We allow a few people to take our national wealth and use it against us.

For the sake of freedom, we should not give up hope. We should exercise the freedoms we still have, and push against those being taken away from us. Examine the cases, investigate news claims, and research history so that you can feel more confident you are acting on behalf of your own interests, and the greater good. Patriotism means defending the rights of the people, sometimes against the bosses. Many of us have already protested, boycotted, and participated in Our Revolution (The Peace Movement). Dare to hope, dream, and keep taking action in broad daylight!!!

Poem on Death or Loss

My gardens, my pets, my friends, my family… those I lose are still with me every day and every night. i still see, hear, and feel them around me and inside me. im always reminded of those things that make me who i am. the things i lose are alive in my dreams or in the presence of other things. Sometimes my dreams of my dead father being alive feel very real. To be remembered is not a depressing concept it is the dying and absence aspects that hurt; but only in forgetting is there absence of our conscious minds; but that is limited absence in the totality of being.

Requiem of a Dreamer

I have been exploring “fairness” in journalism (Fairness Doctrine) and “justice” in politics (Just War Doctrine) ever since i was in the military working on my ‘Conscientious Objector’ theory. It is not until i made time to study the things i wanted to, that i was able to learn things that no one was going to teach me; and perhaps that is the most important lesson as an adult …. that we must pursue our best interests or give up free will, if freedom scares us too much.

People think that if they are allowed to dream or be seen to do ‘nothing’, then they will grow more and more lazy and be losers entirely. I have always had ambition to dream, create, and share with fellow dreamers. As AOC pointed out recently in Congress, ambition is not always bad or just for greedy people; and apathy can be used contemptuously by greedy people that had ambition to gain power, but now that they have power they selfishly cling on to their bribes so that they can make no changes to help the masses (who become apathetic too), rather than ambitious to make the world a better place for all. Watching the film “Saving Mr Banks” about Mary Poppins’ author and Walt Disney was very inspirational today regarding creating using stream-of-consciousness imagination; and so I am writing this poetic essay on a few idealistic subjects, including judging books by their covers and adult rights to life.

I had some understanding when we visited Italy as a child, that Rome represented ‘law and order’ (the good guys), and barbarians represented ‘tribal chaos’ (the bad guys). I began to wonder, were all those who looked or acted ‘barbarian’ evil? Were all those who looked or acted ‘Roman’ good? Should we judge good and evil by the uniforms we wear, or the languages we speak? Both sides seemed to fight each-other, back and forth equally; but for some reason the Romans were considered better as winners. This is part of why I choose to look a bit different as an artist, to get people to think beyond stereo-typing.

As a young adult massively in debt out of college, barely able to earn a living working 5 jobs during every month, I was miserable trying to provide a living for myself and others (parents and partners), at the cost of our environment and future as a civilization. The two goals (income and sustainability) are not mutually exclusive, but we all must find our own balance. If we cannot make money pay for our dreams, we can let our dreams pay for our money.

Lucid Dream 11/9/2017

I had a dream I was looking at colleges again, and met up with friends from RWU, but at a new college where I had just enrolled. Teradactyle was there and we bonded again with a crew. We spent many hours joking around, and I saw kirks and spocks among classmates. In one of our first classes together, he told me that as friends we would probably not work out again, because he had suggested I check out a bunch of architecture books, and he thought I had not listened to him, and was still aggravated at me for not taking his advice seriously. I then went to lunch and was standing in line outside in a triangle type park, near the tip of traffic, and some native boys began talking to me. Two brothers one younger and one older. The young one was talking to me about our white environmental shirts, and the older one asked me to buy something from their merchandise zipper bag which had balloons and zip drives. Suddenly I was transported to a dark walkway at night, and the brothers were there, blood on the neck of the younger one, and blood on the street nearby. I did not see a dead body, but it was clear I missed a horrific event. I must have blacked out for a period of time. The older brother was apologizing to the younger, near a tree beside me. I stood in the middle of the brick walkway. Some streetlights were on, so it was not totally dark. I stood there wondering what was going on for some time. Then the older brother asked me to please move on, because I was freaking them out. I said sorry, but I was lost. They pointed me in the right direction, and I returned to the park triangle on campus. Being totally dark now, and no one around I was bewildered still. Suddenly it was day again, and I went in a building on the park. Girls were getting their hair cut, and I interrupted them to ask how to get to the Architecture department. After bothering several people, and being told not to use certain doors, I was told there was no Architecture department there.
