Thin Veil … A Chicken Tale …

THIN VEIL  …A Chicken Tale… of sorts…

There is a thin veil between yesterday and today, between our present moment and our past moments, between our experiences yesterday and those of today. Something happens in the present moment and WHAM, there we are again facing our past head-on. Something happens that we are not totally in control of, triggers a sad or a happy response, and we are suddenly reliving our past, immersed in similar / familiar sorrow, or joy.

Sometimes it is nearly impossible to distinguish between the two, between our past and our present, as they are such an integral part of the fabric of who we are. There is no way to consciously control what comes filtering through that thin veil, between then and now, and all the emotions trailing behind the memories. I guess the best we can do is acknowledge the veil, and then try to embrace it as a part of who we are, both the good and the bad. For example….

Last night I was so busy I forgot to close the chicken hatchway. My body was so tired, my knees and arm ached from the days activities, and I could not wait to fall into bed. Just as I was drifting off, I heard a chicken shriek, and I knew what had happened. Pissed at myself, I jumped out of bed, threw on my robe, and rushed down to the chickens. Golden girl had been slaughtered by a fox, and poor Red was beside herself, looking around warily and squawking. I pet her and comforted her and little Belle, my blue egg layer, even as I tried to comfort myself.

Old memories of loss of precious birds came flooding back as I kicked myself for forgetting. But I had to stroke and comfort myself, understanding that I was exhausted and overly tired from a huge day of music playing and car driving. I was consciously taking a small break last evening from all my responsibilities, watching a movie and emailing friends. I was so relaxed and spent, that I forgot to protect my chickens, one responsibility I forbid myself to forsake. I had let my guard down, just as I did the day my yurt burned to the ground last year. Yes, such things have happened before and no doubt will happen again. I will mourn the loss of my lovely gold chicken who laid huge brown eggs. Later today I will do as I have done in the past with other good birds. I will take her body to the field for the vultures to feed on her, I will bid her farewell, and I will go on with my life. Yes, there is a thin veil between yesterday and today.

What is that saying that I really did not like nor completely understand? “The more things change, they more they stay the same.” Now I understand the meaning of these words. They apply appropriately to this latest episode in my life here as a mini-homesteader. And then there is the ongoing problem with a woodchuck eating my soybean plants and broccoli…yet another difficult perennial problem to solve. Nature is consistently indifferent and does not care about me. I tire of trying. Perhaps it is time to stop. I have no help here…there is too much for me to do…so what’s new? The thin veil, the triggers, are intact, there is no denying it. Nothing has changed. Would I really expect it to ? Perhaps that is my problem… I keep trying, and all I am doing is spinning my wheels.

Pretty morbid, mournful thoughts today. Thanks for letting me vent. See me tomorrow once the garlic is harvested and the blueberries and the peas are picked ! The Indefatigable will continue to pick up the pieces, get beyond the grief, and continue on with life with even more humility than before.

Humility…human…humus…hmm… Still, darn that veil. Would it could be a high, thick, impenetrable wall, protecting us from pain and sorrow !!

But such is the stuff of stories… I suppose I should be happy they keep coming !

Nostalgia Is What It Used To Be

Nostalgia hits me hard often, but it is not just melancholy; my nostalgia an odd mix of ecstatic joy, understanding bliss, profound sadness, and contentment. These intense feelings sometimes become tears. Some may view my weeping as weakness, but honestly I am experiencing powerful life conclusions akin to one’s life flashing before their eyes during a near death experience, lessons from the lives of others, and countless other thoughts that surprise me like lights or sounds at the ‘end of tunnels.

Death Will Change Them

Posted in Cooperatives / Communities / Networks / Travels, Critical Commentary of Civilization, Psychology with tags , , , , , , on April 13, 2012 by Drogo

There are some that will prey on the kindness of others, and in turn make them suffer, until death. Few things you say or do can change that. There are others that can change in many important ways with our help. It is our responsibility to determine who is who, and to rid ourselves of those who seriously hurt the community.

As much as change happens during a lifetime, there are some people that will never change in the ways that we would like, until they are dead. There are some psychos that need to either be medicated in an institution, exiled with force, or dead. For the rest of us, party on!

So for all those that will not change their evil ways, and deliberately increase suffering on those that do not deserve it, only death will change them. But death will come to them, and they will die. They must die, because we all die, so we know that they will die. Death will change them.

Death of Bin Laden

Osama Bin Laden is Dead 2011

Rumors of his Death will be confirmed by a Long Form Death Certificate… but what does it mean?

I am glad that Osama Bin Laden is dead. There, i admit it, now back to serious discussion as a patriot.

The news media said he took credit for it, but I never saw the supposed video where even a single translator says “I did it.” or even “We did it.” Its funny how many people never thought much about it, but i do remember thinking “there is a video”, like most people. The funniest thing is I have searched for years for the “video” where he says he did it! I have never seen a video with a proper translation even.

Even if he “took credit for it” without proof that he did so, our Justice system requires proof. Without evidence we could say that anyone said “they did it” and kill them without trial. I was in the Air Force, trust me when i say its easy to say “we know he did it”; its harder for us to imagine that the cia or black ops allowed it to happen, or that they even helped it to happen. With all the evidence of covert plots in history, its easier for me to question the official story more than believe that our talented heroes in the military could not shoot down the planes that were clearly on a suicide mission by the time they were near the cities.

In one famous video (cited in sources below), “Bin Laden” is talking in terms of dream prophesies and that 911 advanced their causes, and his causes, but im still looking for him even admitting it, as many people believe he did. Even if he did say “I did it”, many criminals take the credit for crimes they may or may not have done. In other words, you and i could sit around and say “we are glad about someone else killing someone” , but it doesnt mean we did it…

With no solid evidence to point to regarding exactly all the parties involved in planning and executing 911, no truth can be known or even claimed. The facts should not be kept as “Top Secret” when so many loved ones are at risk of being killed, or are killed. I was born in 1976, a Bi-centennial flag-waving baby. I was and have been extremely patriotic, even blindly and aggressively so. It is my ongoing quest for answers that led me to join the military, as my father did before me. Most people dont understand, ive been studying the details of 911 for years, beyond what mass media and those in power tell us. Im glad im not the only one i know that finds the whole experience disturbing… for years now. Yet it does seem he was an enemy of America, and did advocate killing us all, so i cant help but feel like celebrating anyway…

*

The FBI 10 Most Wanted did include Bin Laden, but said that he was wanted for other terrorist plots, not specifically 911 because they felt they did not have enough evidence. A prosecuting attorney on NPR said “we didn’t try to indict him for 911 because the charges already against him (bombing of the USS Cole, etc) were enough to get him the death penalty. So we felt it was a waste of time and resources to go through a grand jury process to also indict him for 911.” CIA case officer Baer said in 2008 “of course he’s dead”, and Prime Minister Bhutto said he was dead in 2007. So there was much confusion, and now some are eager to see the long form “death certificate”. I wish the mainstream media and government would cite their sources with follow up on this subject better! All i hear is “we know he did it” and “He said he did it in a video” none of which i have been able to verify with proof. It comes down to whether or not we trust our government, the cia, military, etc blindly.

Rational thought is not dead yet. As an Air Force veteran of the War on Terror, I believe more than ever now in the way of the peaceful warrior philosopher as responsible citizen. My sacrifice of serving, and experience earns me the right to question those in power, to make sure lives are not lost based on lies.

“Frankly the big surprise to me was that he was still alive at all. I’d figured he’d died anonymously early on and his continued existence was just a convenient fiction for both sides to continue the conflict, since he was never the point, …anyway. The American government needed a boogeyman and Al Qaeda needed a hero. While I don’t have much faith in this, I hope that his final removal from the equation will remove the reason to fight for at least some of the people on each side, so we can move on to more productive things than killing each other.” – Sima Ke

“Controlled demolition. Evey building fell in the same uniform fashion. Always will know it was a hoax for oil.” – Grayhood
