Capitalism vs Communism Death Tolls

Posted in Critical Commentary of Civilization, Economics, History, Military, Politics, Sustainability, Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , on October 11, 2019 by Drogo

The genocide totals by Communist and Fascist regimes should be considered in the historic context of the political labels as a response to Capitalism, and why that was. Both ideologies operated economically as National Capitalism, of state market authoritarian control (totalitarianism). Genocide death tolls in this article include mass murder, war fatalities, and fatal causalities by various means (armed and unarmed killings).

Communism (Marxism in general) was a response to the horrors of Capitalism (wage exploitation, resource wars, and mass poverty). Marxists wanted democratic worker owned industry and government, not the dictatorships that they got. Fascism (National Industry) was the loyal child of Capitalism (not free-market, but monopolistic state crony capitalism run like a corporation, anti-democracy).

If we blame Nazis for starting WW2 then all military deaths on both sides (Allies + Axis) can be blamed on Fascism, which would bring the total killings for Fascists (4 regimes) to over 55 million (30m civilian genocide + 25m WW2 military). Communists still come in highest (25 regimes) at 75-100 million. Again all of them functioned as Capitalist Dictatorships, with very little social welfare for the masses, compared to the money spent on elites (business bosses and paid politicians) or the militaries.

Blaming economic-political systems gets messy, because how they function may not represent the ideology of their label. Capitalism and Christianity are responsible for more deaths than Communism and Atheism, as they existed for longer periods with more countries including Monarchies. So we could just add up all the death tolls of countries that call themselves Capitalist, and not include Fascist genocides.

ATTEMPTING THE IMPOSSIBLE – CALCULATING CAPITALISM’S DEATH TOLL

“Ignoring big wars due to capitalism and only focusing on US action and only including one year for things that are systemic (ie. poverty), which is being really damn conservative because Japan engaged in brutal imperialism, we get a total of 205,000,000 killed directly or indirectly because of capitalism.” – Guerilla Ontology

“Capitalist Genocide includes, but is not limited to:

United States:

US intervention in Latin America: 6.3 million dead
Invasion of Philippines: 650,000-3 million dead
Afghanistan: 1.2 million dead
Vietnam War: 10 million dead
Korean War: 10 million dead
Yugoslavia: 300,000 dead
Iran-Iraq War (US funding both sides): 1 million dead
US intervention in Congo: 5 million dead
US Civil War (financial vs land capitalists) 650,000 dead
Native American genocide: 95 million dead
African slave trade: 150 million dead
Indonesian purges against communists: 1 million dead (underestimate)
US Bombing of Laos and Cambodia: at least 1 million dead
US backed dictators: at least a few million

Britain:

Bengal Famine: 10 million dead
British Occupation of India: 20 million dead
Famine in Held British India: 30 million
Irish potato famine (British farmers could have helped): 1.5 million

Japanese imperialism in China and Asia: 12 million
South African apartheid: 3.5 million
Spanish Civil War: 350,000
French colonies: 1 million dead

Note that this does not include the number of children and adults alike in the First World, Second World, or Third World who have died from hunger and lack of access to basic needs of life. In total, the death toll of capitalism exceeds 1 billion. ” – Death Tolls of Socialism And Capitalism

What has killed more people: Communism or Capitalism?

600,000,000 Capitalist killings are added in the 3rd article.

*

Communist genocide probably includes military battle deaths, but not Capitalist countries who use some form of Marxism (USA, England, etc), but does include Communist countries who use National Capitalism economically, and some forms of State Marxism internally for distribution. Communism death tolls are usually over-estimated by combining 25 dictatorial regimes that have called themselves ‘Communist’ or ‘Socialist’.

According to R. J. Rummel‘s book Death by Government (1994), about 110 million people, foreign and domestic, were killed by communist democide from 1900 to 1987.

In his introduction to the Black Book of Communism (1999), Stéphane Courtois gave a “rough approximation, based on unofficial estimates” approaching 100 million killed.

According to Benjamin Valentino in 2005, the number of non-combatants killed by communist regimes in the Soviet Union, People’s Republic of China and Cambodia alone ranged from a low of 21 million to a high of 70 million.

In 2011, Matthew White published his rough total of 70 million “people who died under communist regimes from execution, labor camps, famine, ethnic cleansing, and desperate flight in leaky boats”, not counting those killed in wars.

Communist Mass Killings (genocides) total = 70-100 million apx.

So the largest estimate for Capitalism is 1.6 Billion (1,600,000,000) killings, which is much higher than the newer political-economic governments of Communism, Socialism, or Fascism. We could be generous to both and say that Communism and Capitalism have both killed over 200 million people combined, by discounting the history of Capitalism before 1900 and after 1950, and not blaming Communists or Fascist Capitalists for WW2.

Poem on Death or Loss

Posted in dreams, Memorials / Obituaries / Epitaphs, Poems, Poems, Rhymes, Riddles, relationships, Spiritual, Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , on April 26, 2019 by Drogo

My gardens, my pets, my friends, my family… those I lose are still with me every day and every night. i still see, hear, and feel them around me and inside me. im always reminded of those things that make me who i am. the things i lose are alive in my dreams or in the presence of other things. Sometimes my dreams of my dead father being alive feel very real. To be remembered is not a depressing concept it is the dying and absence aspects that hurt; but only in forgetting is there absence of our conscious minds; but that is limited absence in the totality of being.

Drogo’s Funeral Party

Posted in Events / Celebrations, Pagan, Recommendations & Tributes, Uncategorized with tags , , , , , on June 29, 2018 by Drogo

Upon the Death of Drogo Empedocles, there shall be a party.

Eventually I will die. When my death comes, I will have a party for friends and family.

The affordable funeral ceremony will be a party at a park, farm, or garden; organized by my PR and any of my close friends (Beamer, Jeffy, Aeyla) that volunteer to help announce and send invitations. My funeral party will be open to anyone who wishes to attend and pay respect to my life and celebrate memories living on in their own lives. The PR will decide on the portion of my treasures (art, books, collections) to present to family and attendees who are minor beneficiaries. Paid live musicians. Fire offerings should be herbs, clothes, and my cremated ashes. If alcohol is not allowed at the property, attendees can have an after-party for toasts. Time: Noon to at least Dusk, and on to Midnight if possible.

Thin Veil … A Chicken Tale …

Posted in Farming, Homesteading, Memorials / Obituaries / Epitaphs, Sustainability with tags , , , , , , , , , , on July 28, 2014 by Drogo

THIN VEIL  …A Chicken Tale… of sorts…

There is a thin veil between yesterday and today, between our present moment and our past moments, between our experiences yesterday and those of today. Something happens in the present moment and WHAM, there we are again facing our past head-on. Something happens that we are not totally in control of, triggers a sad or a happy response, and we are suddenly reliving our past, immersed in similar / familiar sorrow, or joy.

Sometimes it is nearly impossible to distinguish between the two, between our past and our present, as they are such an integral part of the fabric of who we are. There is no way to consciously control what comes filtering through that thin veil, between then and now, and all the emotions trailing behind the memories. I guess the best we can do is acknowledge the veil, and then try to embrace it as a part of who we are, both the good and the bad. For example….

Last night I was so busy I forgot to close the chicken hatchway. My body was so tired, my knees and arm ached from the days activities, and I could not wait to fall into bed. Just as I was drifting off, I heard a chicken shriek, and I knew what had happened. Pissed at myself, I jumped out of bed, threw on my robe, and rushed down to the chickens. Golden girl had been slaughtered by a fox, and poor Red was beside herself, looking around warily and squawking. I pet her and comforted her and little Belle, my blue egg layer, even as I tried to comfort myself.

Old memories of loss of precious birds came flooding back as I kicked myself for forgetting. But I had to stroke and comfort myself, understanding that I was exhausted and overly tired from a huge day of music playing and car driving. I was consciously taking a small break last evening from all my responsibilities, watching a movie and emailing friends. I was so relaxed and spent, that I forgot to protect my chickens, one responsibility I forbid myself to forsake. I had let my guard down, just as I did the day my yurt burned to the ground last year. Yes, such things have happened before and no doubt will happen again. I will mourn the loss of my lovely gold chicken who laid huge brown eggs. Later today I will do as I have done in the past with other good birds. I will take her body to the field for the vultures to feed on her, I will bid her farewell, and I will go on with my life. Yes, there is a thin veil between yesterday and today.

What is that saying that I really did not like nor completely understand? “The more things change, they more they stay the same.” Now I understand the meaning of these words. They apply appropriately to this latest episode in my life here as a mini-homesteader. And then there is the ongoing problem with a woodchuck eating my soybean plants and broccoli…yet another difficult perennial problem to solve. Nature is consistently indifferent and does not care about me. I tire of trying. Perhaps it is time to stop. I have no help here…there is too much for me to do…so what’s new? The thin veil, the triggers, are intact, there is no denying it. Nothing has changed. Would I really expect it to ? Perhaps that is my problem… I keep trying, and all I am doing is spinning my wheels.

Pretty morbid, mournful thoughts today. Thanks for letting me vent. See me tomorrow once the garlic is harvested and the blueberries and the peas are picked ! The Indefatigable will continue to pick up the pieces, get beyond the grief, and continue on with life with even more humility than before.

Humility…human…humus…hmm… Still, darn that veil. Would it could be a high, thick, impenetrable wall, protecting us from pain and sorrow !!

But such is the stuff of stories… I suppose I should be happy they keep coming !

Nostalgia Is What It Used To Be

Posted in Philosophy, Poems, Rhymes, Riddles with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on February 25, 2014 by Drogo

Nostalgia hits me hard often, but it is not just melancholy; my nostalgia an odd mix of ecstatic joy, understanding bliss, profound sadness, and contentment. These intense feelings sometimes become tears. Some may view my weeping as weakness, but honestly I am experiencing powerful life conclusions akin to one’s life flashing before their eyes during a near death experience, lessons from the lives of others, and countless other thoughts that surprise me like lights or sounds at the ‘end of tunnels.

Death Will Change Them

Posted in Cooperatives / Communities / Networks / Travels, Critical Commentary of Civilization, Psychology with tags , , , , , , on April 13, 2012 by Drogo

There are some that will prey on the kindness of others, and in turn make them suffer, until death. Few things you say or do can change that. There are others that can change in many important ways with our help. It is our responsibility to determine who is who, and to rid ourselves of those who seriously hurt the community.

As much as change happens during a lifetime, there are some people that will never change in the ways that we would like, until they are dead. There are some psychos that need to either be medicated in an institution, exiled with force, or dead. For the rest of us, party on!

So for all those that will not change their evil ways, and deliberately increase suffering on those that do not deserve it, only death will change them. But death will come to them, and they will die. They must die, because we all die, so we know that they will die. Death will change them.

Death of Bin Laden

Osama Bin Laden is Dead 2011

Rumors of his Death will be confirmed by a Long Form Death Certificate… but what does it mean?

I am glad that Osama Bin Laden is dead. There, i admit it, now back to serious discussion as a patriot.

The news media said he took credit for it, but I never saw the supposed video where even a single translator says “I did it.” or even “We did it.” Its funny how many people never thought much about it, but i do remember thinking “there is a video”, like most people. The funniest thing is I have searched for years for the “video” where he says he did it! I have never seen a video with a proper translation even.

Even if he “took credit for it” without proof that he did so, our Justice system requires proof. Without evidence we could say that anyone said “they did it” and kill them without trial. I was in the Air Force, trust me when i say its easy to say “we know he did it”; its harder for us to imagine that the cia or black ops allowed it to happen, or that they even helped it to happen. With all the evidence of covert plots in history, its easier for me to question the official story more than believe that our talented heroes in the military could not shoot down the planes that were clearly on a suicide mission by the time they were near the cities.

In one famous video (cited in sources below), “Bin Laden” is talking in terms of dream prophesies and that 911 advanced their causes, and his causes, but im still looking for him even admitting it, as many people believe he did. Even if he did say “I did it”, many criminals take the credit for crimes they may or may not have done. In other words, you and i could sit around and say “we are glad about someone else killing someone” , but it doesnt mean we did it…

With no solid evidence to point to regarding exactly all the parties involved in planning and executing 911, no truth can be known or even claimed. The facts should not be kept as “Top Secret” when so many loved ones are at risk of being killed, or are killed. I was born in 1976, a Bi-centennial flag-waving baby. I was and have been extremely patriotic, even blindly and aggressively so. It is my ongoing quest for answers that led me to join the military, as my father did before me. Most people dont understand, ive been studying the details of 911 for years, beyond what mass media and those in power tell us. Im glad im not the only one i know that finds the whole experience disturbing… for years now. Yet it does seem he was an enemy of America, and did advocate killing us all, so i cant help but feel like celebrating anyway…

*

The FBI 10 Most Wanted did include Bin Laden, but said that he was wanted for other terrorist plots, not specifically 911 because they felt they did not have enough evidence. A prosecuting attorney on NPR said “we didn’t try to indict him for 911 because the charges already against him (bombing of the USS Cole, etc) were enough to get him the death penalty. So we felt it was a waste of time and resources to go through a grand jury process to also indict him for 911.” CIA case officer Baer said in 2008 “of course he’s dead”, and Prime Minister Bhutto said he was dead in 2007. So there was much confusion, and now some are eager to see the long form “death certificate”. I wish the mainstream media and government would cite their sources with follow up on this subject better! All i hear is “we know he did it” and “He said he did it in a video” none of which i have been able to verify with proof. It comes down to whether or not we trust our government, the cia, military, etc blindly.

Rational thought is not dead yet. As an Air Force veteran of the War on Terror, I believe more than ever now in the way of the peaceful warrior philosopher as responsible citizen. My sacrifice of serving, and experience earns me the right to question those in power, to make sure lives are not lost based on lies.

*

“Frankly the big surprise to me was that he was still alive at all. I’d figured he’d died anonymously early on and his continued existence was just a convenient fiction for both sides to continue the conflict, since he was never the point, …anyway. The American government needed a boogeyman and Al Qaeda needed a hero. While I don’t have much faith in this, I hope that his final removal from the equation will remove the reason to fight for at least some of the people on each side, so we can move on to more productive things than killing each other.” – Sima Ke

Extreme Temperatures Blamed for Killing Thousands of Fish

This was the view of Lake Mona, after a freezing Winter that supposedly killed all these gizzard shad fish. Now the scene is being repeated this summer.

Water temperatures were described as “very high, nearly 85 degrees,” potentially contributing to low oxygen levels.

East Coast USA, Beaches where dead fish washed ashore:

Fairhaven, MA – 10,000+ dead fish (menhaden)

Cape May, NJ – 10,000+ dead fish (menhaden)

Delaware Bay – 100,000+ dead fish (menhaden)

Hampton, VA – 20,000+ dead fish (menhaden)

Illinois Lake – 2,000+ dead fish (gizzard shad)

This story was avoided by major TV NEWS networks, and AP. Why? We cannot say. Story followed on Google News and Youtube by Czar Wright and Drogo Empedocles in 2010.

Death to Christmas Trees!

Posted in Organic Development, Sustainability with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on December 6, 2009 by Drogo

Every year, millions of perfectly good evergreen trees are slaughtered, decked out, and then thrown out. Yes, in the name of Jesus Christ, we massacre trees in America for our pride in gaudy ritual. We say we love Christmas Trees, much the same as hunters who love animals so much they kill them, and put them on display, dead.

Their dead carcasses are displayed and decorated, in the name of Christmas. However I think it a far more practical Holiday ritual is the Pagan Yule Log, which actually serves to warm and provide light on a dark night. If you are going to kill a tree, I think it should at least be used for something. Killing trees for Christmas Trees makes as much sense to me as human sacrifice.

If the tree is already dead, that is different. If you want to display a dead tree, just use one that is already dead, and then use it for fuel or compost. Artificial trees are more environmental, if they are kept and reused. Every tree killed in the prime of life is a loss, because trees burn or compost better after they have been dead for a few years. The only good use for killing a tree human size or larger is for use in construction.

Another alternative idea to industrial tree slaughter, is to use a smaller tree that a child could carry. Grow it yourself, and harvest it yourself. Then as you display it, it will mean more to you. I have actually had people tell me they would not be able to cut it, as they would be attached to it, but these same people want to buy a large tree every year that someone else has killed. There is also such as thing as a potted tree.

The best conclusion is for most people to have a small dead tree, or a small fake tree indoors, and decorate a living evergreen tree outside. If people do not have a yard, they should be able to decorate a community living tree. Living evergreen trees can grow quite tall, and can be much more impressive than the usual sizes that are dead. Remember, you can have less environmental impact, if you must own an interior tree, by either using a potted tree or at least having a dead one smaller than yourself.
