Thoughts on Collaboration

When cooperating with a friend on a project, if they say that they cannot do something a certain way, you can try to negotiate or take time to understand what they are talking about; or else just let them do it their way, and try to be less egotistical about it in the end. Usually most people hold resentment, as though their vision incarnate in an alternate reality would have been better than the real result.

Relations are like tests, the way they are written and graded is at least as important as the way they are taken. When taking the test we may feel we are doing well or failing, but the final grade may be the opposite of what you thought it would be. This risk does not mean the test is not worth taking. Retests may be available, but are often optional. As many times as we take a test, higher scores may not be possible.

In the dance of relations, whether business or friends, find out what will work to facilitate trade, then do it with confident trust. Those that break faith, substantially determine the length of the dance. Less will-power, less dance. Too much egotistic selfishness and the dance will end badly, it takes balance to sustain the dance and desire to dance well.

Work with people that honestly love you AND what you bring to the project. If you get the sense that you appreciate their stuff more than they appreciate yours, be very cautious as they can turn on you due to selfish egotism. Confidence is arrogance when it ultimately ignores friendship for selfish pride. If their selfishness trumps their concern and interest of you, stop working with them asap*. Despite the popular saying “do not mix business and pleasure (friendship)”, and advice that goes along with it due to bad experiences, friends (I mean the best kind of friends) are actually the best people to have partnerships with, provided things are fairly equal or at least good-will based and more pleasure is had by the exchanges, than regret. Some of us prefer to work with ones that love us, because they understand and respect our limitations and gifts; and still want to include us in their lives and projects.

On Living and Working Together – (see main article)

When part of most days are spent doing things with each-other, we should realize it is a partner relationship, and it is very important to evaluate functionality and success whether the goal is just happiness or a project. You cannot really understand who people are, unless you have serious lengthy interactions; and if you cannot spend hours with each-other, pushing, pulling, and in silence, then just realize you do not really know them well enough for major partnership decisions. Even when you have lived with another, which is even harder than long distance, there are things about them which will not make sense to you. It is only through meditation on the shared living experiences and communications, comparing and contrasting ideas and results, words and actions, good and bad feelings, can we have a real basis for knowing if who they are works with who you are sustainably enough to live happily together. This is not to say that anyone is perfectly good to themselves or others all the time, but we can only know relative to our own experiences and wisdom. Desire to do something with partners cannot be so selfish it excludes them; we succeed or fail together with group projects.

Facebook has made it clear to me, that text messages (no matter how personal), are not a true substitute for the kind of testing that must be done in person eventually. However, less challenging communication you have, the less prepared you will be to handle each-other when the hardest tests come. The best indicator that you cannot work together, is if both people harbor more resentment than love consistently.

* ps – get at least one second opinion about what you think they are being selfish about, and if you can have a long personal conversation about it with your partner… DO IT!!! If it is clear that they really do not care about your feelings or they don’t care about your well-being, then take steps as soon as possible to end the relations and cease working on anything related to them.

For My Friends to Summon Me

A Conjuring Spell to Evoke my Spirit

*

First, let me advise the potential readers. To my strong and wise friends, you will understand this completely, and will not need this explanation. To my more timid friends, do not be afraid. To my enemies, I warn you not to abuse my good will. To lame idiots that will never get it in this lifetime, i reflect their own negativity back at them, and say “no you get a life of your own worth having jackass, and stay out of mine” (in response to insults they say to me). This is not a suicide note. Nor is this fiction. This essay is meant to explain to people how I prefer to be addressed. That being said, this is certainly not the only spell to call me, there are other methods. While I am alive “in body” there are many existing methods of communicating with me, that may not be available when my body is dead. However, as I have stated before, I intend to be around as a spirit before moving on entirely (from ghost to reincarnation or other realm entirely). I know this spell will work, because I use it to summon myself all the time (regular meditations). So this spell works for my spirit even while my body is still “alive”, so it should work better when my spirit is more free, and not contained.

*

Now I have dealt with many types of spirits, good and evil and neutral; in various amalgams. Sometimes I have conjured other spirits by accident, sometimes by choice; and often a little of both. I have even been possessed, and banished spirits. However I prefer to use common nature magicks; I like to work with spirits (and gods), and make things better; rather than use dangerous powers that I may not be able to control. That is why I do not intend to publish many spells about summoning other spirits, as they may not want to be bothered by strangers. So it is fair enough that the first conjuring spell for a human spirit that I publish, be one to summon I.

Spell to Summon Drogo Empedocles

This spell may be performed in haste with emergencies, or best in a prepared setting with ritual relics and additional pageantry. Other names for Drogo Empedocles may also be used. After the spell is conducted, Drogo may appear as an apparition, or you may simply feel his presence. If you do not sense Drogo, it does not necessarily mean that he cannot be summoned at that time; he may be present, but you may have a reception problem on your end in temporal existence (technical difficulties). Another possibility is that he might just visit your dreams.

Begin with basic ritual, light a candle, and play Pagan Music.

Next hold a Celtic talisman, and speak these words:

“Upon this day, upon this night

to my left, or to my right;

I call upon Drogo Empedocles,

if you can, if you please, or if you might.”

Then bow your head and Drogo will be there, bowing his head in return.

Communicate with Drogo directly.

Upon ending the summons, simply thank Drogo for coming, and properly close communications with a “good-bye”. The spirit of Drogo will bow and leave.

END

Scorpion of SCOD

Posted in Cooperatives / Communities / Networks / Travels, Individuals / Members / Monsters / Creative Writing with tags , , , , , on April 19, 2012 by Drogo

I am going to tell you the story of a creative and energetic young man named Scorpi. He was a traveler, a homeless vagabond who journeyed from the Western Ocean to the Eastern Shores, and from New York to Texas, and eventually he hitch-hiked and walked from the Atlantic back to the Pacific again.

Scorpi was born January 23, 1983 in Seattle, Washington. He never knew his father, and his mother was a crack-addict so he went to foster care. He stayed in foster care until he was 18, and because that is the cut-off year for foster-care he found himself homeless.

2003 –  Scorpi came to town with 2 redneck hobos. We met at the Armory Pub, where we both worked washing dishes. He was so excited to find a friend that likes Red Dwarf, Monty Python, and Doctor Who that he insisted we get a place together the first day we met!

I showed him a place he could stay for free, and no one would bother him. He lived on the Mountain in a half-shell tent-wigwam we made for him during the summer. I taught him not to litter, and to clean up the forest. He was up there during the Hurricane. One day he was so excited about sharing his hash breakfast with me, that he brought it all the way down the mountain in the frying pan to me. It was one of the nicest things a friend has ever done for me. He was always willing to share whatever he had.

Scorpi tried sleeping on my porches and in a room on the 3rd Floor, but his addiction to tv, video games, and messiness became problems and he was asked to leave and he did.

2004 – Scorpi began living with Ken at his antique store downtown.

In January as the snow came down hard, Laughing Lion and I took Scorpi out for his 21st birthday drink at TGI Fridays

2005 – I helped Scorpi move out of Ken’s place downtown and into an Apartment in Bolivar. I joined the US Air Force.

I cosigned a $1,200 loan at the Bank for him, and in return he gave me a spare key to his place and the right to come visit anytime… which was useful for pressuring him to pay the loan payments on time… which he did! I interviewed him in a Youtube video.

2006 – We kept in touch while I was away on Military Duty, and I mailed him some gift packages. When I returned I helped him clean his apartment, and let him borrow my futon. He still maintained homeless habits of not showering, and leaving messes for too long that get worse quickly. I could not find a local social worker on the phone or in person for the State or anywhere to help him.

After he paid off the first loan on time, Winter slowed his cash again even though he was working two jobs (Coffee Mill and Anvil Restaurant), so we cosigned a second loan, this time for $2,000 and I got $200 of it for my social work on his behalf. He had a period of depression, but he made the payments on time, and paid off the second loan as well. He knew that was the last loan I would sign for him, and he would be on his own. To celebrate I designed his Scorpion Tattoo he wanted, and I took him to get it done.

2007 – I got married and moved to Frederick, so I was in town less, and did not visit Scorpi as much. However I did have him over to Frederick once, and took him to the movies a few times afterwards.

2008 – Scorpi was mugged and his wallet was taken on the back streets of Bolivar, so I bought him a new wallet for his birthday.

2009 – My father died, and Scorpi came to visit afterwards and help recycle thousands of magazines. Scorpi was evicted from his apartment and found a room in a house nearby with a room-mate.

2010 – I had a renter that was a convicted pedophile, and was busy dealing with how to handle him. Scorpi got in trouble at his new apartment on his roommates’ computer. He tried to deny it, but we lectured him for a few hours, and he decided it was time for him to move out of town, and hit the road again. So I spent one last day helping him move his stuff out into storage, and he helped me move some columns under the porch, and then I brought him to Frederick where we ate at McDonalds, and then I set him out on the Golden Mile to begin his trek West.

2011 – Scorpi made it to Las Vegas and lived there on the streets.

2012 – Scorpi made it to Salt Lake City, Utah and lived there sometimes in shelters, but mostly on the streets and in camps. He remains there to this day, and wants all his friends to know that he is ok having fun, and entertaining people with his signs to make them laugh. He earns enough panhandling to afford a phone with internet connection, and go to new movies at the theaters on opening-night!

2015 – Salt Lake City, Utah, home of conservative Mormons; has legally determined that helping and housing homeless people makes more financial and humanitarian sense than trying to push them away, or arrest them!?! They now say they are committed to giving every homeless person a home within 10 days, and appointing them a social-worker. Ironic but true, and the best ending for this story so far.
