Drogo Quotes 4

I was told all my life not to pursue a career in Art or Music because they don’t make money; even my liberal artsy parents told me that… now after having died a few times and been reborn, i have a few things to say about that common statement. Popularity and Finances are only two aspects of the game called LIFE. First off we should not all strive to be Mega-stars who ‘make it big’ because the very concept is based on the framework of oligarchy and i do not want to encourage plutocracy. Secondly in an equal democracy of citizen artists we have the ability to schedule or freely live our own lives and walk out our doors without getting assaulted by pop-art-artsy (capitalist journalism). Thirdly i would rather live in a nut-house with no bills to pay, than not be able to draw or make noise and still be expected to pay bills – and not even get free medicine.

Treat yourself good, so you can do good for others, or at least be nice to those that deserve it.

*

Patience is a key to happiness, influence, and wisdom.  Patience is not always the same thing, sometimes patience means giving way to another; but other times patience is something we teach to others by taking our time in front of them on the road.

*

I want to take the time to say thank you to all those that take the time to communicate respectfully as equals; or at least as benevolent overlords; thank you! even when communicating in ‘drill instructor’ mode or ‘silent apathy’ mode, there is either an underlying spirit that cares, or there is not… and with patience you can recognize the pattern of behaviors for what they are. A good actor can play a villain, but check safeties on guns and go out for drinks with the actors they killed on set, to make sure there are no ill feelings left over after the parts are played. I think fear stops people from tending bridges.

*

i dont experience time in a strictly linear way; most moments my mind is leaping back and forth between the past, future, and fiction; like a work song or marching cadence – living in the present flow but transcending with memory and imagination. I am sure this is indeed how most minds work.

Those that really care about you will want to be as emotionally close as possible as often as is mutually beneficial. Apathy, Hatred, or Love are feelings individuals can choose to show to other people to form relationships of all kinds. From my teen years i think i felt hatred and jealousy more often than love and compassion in my life into early adult-hood; after flipping the scales to favor love and compassion i feel much happier and peaceful. Yes i still get mad, but im better at focusing my anger to achieve tasks, and not harm others.

*

Reality is broad spectrum. When we get caught up with rejecting things because of an ideal of perfection, we can so easily deny ourselves the happiness of enjoying diversity in reality. Sure the diversity can be frustrating too, but life is a balance between judging, participating, and simply observing.

*

Yes size matters to many animals for various mating behaviors; unless they are birds who prefer color display, or humans with intellect who value the individual as a person rather than only based on one or two physical aspects. Bigger does seem to be better when it comes to being mainstream sexist with certain primates, i know that much.

People create markets by desire, as a perceived want or need; intentional or not.

*

One beautiful thing about being Neo-Pagan is that you can believe in the gods and goddesses as mythological metaphor (like Joseph Campbell).
*

Ego is simply the ‘self’ conscious mind in psychology.

*

As an architect that actively practiced for over a decade, industrial convention blocked my environmental efforts on every level. It was my experience that has led me to pursue alternative education on a social level without the pressure of ‘judge, jury, and executioner’ i faced with every client project. I still practice environmental architecture, but now i do so on my own terms, by practicing SCOD adaptive techniques of self-employment and organic networking. Even digital does not have to be commercial, and some day commercial does not have to so destructive and ignorant.

Regarding how other people treat us, remember we are Arbiters of Personal Opinion – many people will be critical without caring how their opinion will affect you; many will say honestly harsh things with no compassion using the blanket excuse that ‘they are helping you’ even if the opposite is true, many will tell you how to do things just to be bossy because they were bullied by others, and they need to make themselves seem better; we can take or leave harsh medicine pushed on us because opinions are indeed as common as smells, some are appropriate for the nose smelling them and some are not, because smells are connected to memories, and memories connected to emotions. Also opinions of opinions change. My opinion is that most people do not care about most other people, and although it is based on professional experience, that opinion may change over time.

Willingness to share and include others is a key to ethical progress. Even when conflict of boundaries arises, and differing opinions are asserted, it is this ‘key’ that is most important. As a friend of mine recently said, “the old concept of copyright is outdated”.

Sins of Scripture Summary

Notes on Sins of Scripture by Bishop John Shelby Spong

civil rights, equal rights, religious freedom, peace, evolution of thought

Preface

“Christian voices in our world continue to employ words that reveal nothing less than arrogance toward other religions, whose adherents they regard as fit subjects not for dialogue but for conversion. This attitude is regularly enforced with biblical claims that a particular religious tradition the certainty of the ultimate truth of God that is seen first as religious bigotry and later as religious persecution.”

Word of God

“The Bible is a subject of interpretation: there is no doctrine, no prophet, no priest, no power, which has not claimed biblical sanctions for itself.” – Paul Tillich

“In the history of the Western world, however, this Bible has also left a trail of pain, horror, blood, and death that is undeniable. Yet this fact is not often allowed to rise to consciousness. Biblical words have been used not only to kill, but even to justify that killing. … It might be difficult for some Christians to understand, but it is not difficult to document the terror enacted by believers in the name of the Bible.”

“I had to document the evil that Christians have so frequently rendered to others in the name of our religion, including the way we have justified violence with biblical quotations. … There is plenty of guilt to go around. It appears to be in the nature of religion itself to be prejudiced against those who are different in looks, language, habit, and religion. Violence is almost always the result of such prejudice.”

“I believe the Bible must be preserved, but not the Bible that people have used to enhance the pain and evil present in human history.”

A Claim That Cannot Endure

“Perhaps the strangest claim ever made for any written document in history is that its words are or somehow contain the “Word of God”.”

“By Sins of Scripture I mean those terrible texts that have been quoted throughout Christian history to justify behavior that is today universally recognized as evil.”

Beyond the biblical lists of immoral mandates… “It is quite easy to demonstrate that the Bible is simply wrong in some of its assumptions. It is hard to maintain the claim of inerrancy in the face of biblical statements that are obviously incorrect. The “Word of God” is not infrequently simply wrong.”

Moses did not write the Old Testament (Torah). He was dead for at least 300 years.

David did not write Psalms, again several years after the death of King David.

Jesus’s followers did not write the Gospels

Paul was fucked up

“Paul was many things, but divine was not one of them.”

Bible and Environment

“…let them have dominion over … (animals), and all the earth…” – Genesis 1:26

“Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it.” – Genesis 1:28

over-breeding is a real problem

environmental ignorance is a real problem

Climate Change Summary

As global warming occurs at the poles, ice melts. The Ocean water temperature rises, and coastal flooding is happening around the World. This causes more frequent and larger hurricanes and tidal waves that kill and displace thousands. Combined with droughts on the mainland, these disasters create more violent civil conflicts. – Drogo

Biblical Anti-Environmental Attitude Summary

The quest to dominate the Earth comes from pre-biblical, Old Testament times. Hebrews coming from Egypt, had a sky god named “YHVH” (I am that I am). They wanted their ancestral homeland back from the Canaanites, who worshiped an earth goddess Astarte, and her lord Baal (Master). Hebrews were shepherds who believed in animal sacrifices to their sky god, and Canaanites were agrarian farmers who preferred grain sacrifices to their gods. The Hebrews invaded and made holy war against the Canaanites. – Drogo

“Mother Earth is fighting back. Mother Earth is rebelling against the way she has been treated by a single species which acts as if the whole world exists to provide comfort and wealth for that species.”

“Bad theology creates bad ecology.”

Chapter 31

“To our knowledge Jesus left no written records. … Whatever else the gospels are, they are certainly not the writings of Jesus. It is equally clear that the gospels are not the result of Jesus’ dictation found in the written notes from his disciples.”

Literacy was very rare in the days of Jesus, and they wrote in Greek

Jesus died around 35 AD

Paul’s 50-65 AD (was not an actual apostle)

Mark’s 70 AD (earliest) (not an apostle, but disciple of Peter)

Matthew 85 AD

Luke’s 90 AD (not an apostle, but a friend of Paul)

John’s 100 AD (last) claims to be son of Zebedee but he would have been about 100

Revelation

What was it about Jesus the human, that caused people to say his miracles were true and that he was the Messiah?

“No, I do not believe that Jesus stilled the storm, walked on water, … But I do want to understand what the experience was with Jesus, that caused people to apply Hebrew scripture God language to him.”

Jedi Mantras

Jedi quotes from Star Wars:

There’s always a bigger fish.

Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering.

Sleep, all life is a dream.

If in anger you answer, then in shame you dwell.

The Jedi use their power for good. The Jedi are selfless. They only care about others.

“The fear of loss is a path to the dark side. Train yourself to let go of everything you fear to lose.

Try not. Do, or do not. There is no try.

Let there be truth between your heart and the Force. All else is transitory.

“Arrogance Weakens Wisdom.”

“Innocence is the first casualty of War; choosing sides and following orders are the first rules of War; but the full cost of War can never be known.”

Quotes by Drogo F. Empedocles

*

Technology, War with other humans, and Pollution aside; living with nature has enough struggles worth worrying about, and “wars” worth fighting even if they are within one’s self.

*

Time decides who you meet in life, your heart decides who you want in your life, and your behavior decides who stays in your life.

*

I would rather work or play with another artist, than compete by putting them down, no matter if i think they are better or worse than i am. One reason i don’t play by industry rules.

*

Support or Attack, but be yourself. Everything will be as it will be; as imperfectly flawed or as perfect as can be.

“I am not sure I want to put this off until later…” – Indecisive Procrastinator

*

I am grateful for my family, friends, and the luck of the fae!!! You are gods and goddesses all.

*

I am dedicated to making people realize that they do not have to work for mega-corporations that pollute the world, if they can make and spend more locally and organically nation-wide. It begins with people simply pressing buttons on their computers and considering the well-being of others. Yes I play music for myself, but that does not stop me from wanting to please others sometimes, and take some time to advertise for other local artists.

*

Yes I am in a West Virginia Rap band, a member of Frederick Drum Circle, am publishing my 15th book, am illustrating a fantasy series, filming documentaries, cartoons, and music videos, and am perpetuating propaganda for a Green Revolution. Also i get paid $20 an hour for my organic gardening, and $100 an hour for the rare client that appreciates my Masters in Architecture. I practice my own style of martial arts daily, and pray to pagan gods. So if anyone is wondering what i do, it depends on how i feel at the time as to how i answer.

I try to think to myself, “How can I make things better?”

Regarding communication, society, and friendship; i am most grateful to know others that are grateful, and I love giving to those who give. Trust of reciprocation is a treasure earned.

The more a warrior knows War, Death, and Violence; the more that warrior should seek Peace, if there is any compassion or empathy for humanity within them.

*

Ringo of the Beatles said it was all about the music for him; but for me when i play any type of art with others it is about the emotional passion (like love) and self expression, and with friends it is more about my connection with them than what notes anyone hits.

There must be a conscious effort to change our dependence on an addiction, if it is not taken away.

*

Sometimes one can become so used to physically fighting, sometimes one forgets that other people do not do it at all.  Sometimes I forget, and it is very hard to explain to people that are scared or abhor violence of any kind, that not all strikes are meant to kill or even to maim.

Redefining and Rewording some terms for modern personal use: ‘Finding The One’ = ‘Realizing what kinds of human interaction i like, and finding at least one person to do some of those with’; ‘Slut’ = ‘Seeker’ (one open to or wanting sexuality, sensuality, or at least affection with certain people); ‘Stuck-up Prude’ = ‘Guard’ (not wanting sexuality or even affection from certain people, not wanting to give affection); ‘Good’ = changes from impossible critical standards to human local organic standards….
