Creative Process: Vanity vs Self-Esteem

listening to how i sang as a kid gave me the freedom i needed to try more with myself. I like half-poetry, half-chanting free-form songs for my voice; if i can focus on singing it how i want without caring about other instruments as much it is easier to sound ok I think. if i dont have to match every note exactly to something else, it becomes way easier. sort of like singing to a child, ‘professional stress’ is not a factor, we just use the voice we have as pleasantly or as silly as we want.

recording studios are really not better than just recording something meaningful, quality aside. since emotional quality doesnt depend on sound standards that are relatively the same. either way its someone pressing record, and then anyone can change it around later. vanity is funny, because if we dont want to look at ourselves in a mirror, it is usually because we think we would feel worse, however that means that by not doing it we are being more selfish to feel better, because we are afraid of not being good enough for whatever. Like when we dont want other people to look at an image we dont like of ourselves, when we think the image is not as good as we are, we are being vain. It is probably more humble to not be so concerned about how other people feel towards us either way.

the effort to record as in pressing record is not really a big deal. People make a bigger deal about how often they listen to themselves, superstitiously as though as many times as watching anything else will make them insanely vain and jinx their talent. society gives you a stereotype of how we should look and sound. I think thats the problem for a lot of people. Plus people tire of things easily, if they think they are getting nothing good out of it.

Self-esteem to want to listen to yourself, look at yourself, and learn from yourself is not usually the same as extreme vanity to the point of narcissism. The term narcissism has been over-used recently, like the word ‘creepy’, because we are all realizing how common it is to not understand things we see in each-other, that we consider different regarding ourselves. Some people are more sensitive to things, or caught up in psychological complexes than others, but really existence is a psycho-somatic mystery for all of us, even the ones that think they have solved it.

Be confident when you feel you need to express yourself and defend your work! If people do not like it, at least you were true to yourself, no matter how much they think you failed. Retrospect combined with empathy is actually how caring and considerate people judge things, not the history that psychopathic dictators think is justified in the name of ‘might is right’; this is usually a bigger problem than most of us will face by our own common whistling however.

Some Thoughts on Appearance

Posted in Health & Fitness, Spiritual, Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on August 27, 2016 by Drogo

For those that are too hard on themselves, but are able to be good to others; be content that you are ok as you are now. Growth and death are natural organic processes, that will happen with or without our conscious help. This is the mystery of internal will-power and external ‘higher’-powers. The secret to this mystery is if we are empathetically connected with life around us, our subconscious will do the hard work for us, of growing our mind ; it comes with open expanded awareness. Winning or losing need not disrupt our peace of mind and happy contentment, that we can already have; in part by our ability to be good to others, because other people may want to return our favors in order to keep receiving from us or reward us for giving. Not all promises can be kept, however. Therefore, self-generated happiness is critical to sustained contentment and joy.

Take time out to smile for yourself.

Many of us spend hours working on how we look, or thinking about how we look, or worrying about how we feel about how we look to others. All of that matters less than who we are to ourselves, and who we are to people that love us for who we are.

The cover of your book may look good, but the real book is in the inside content. People may judge your book on your cover, and may even buy it because of the cover art; however it is the people that love the book because you wrote it that matters most, even if there is no cover.

Self-Employed

Some of us do NOT fit into regular jobs, and it is the job of large companies not to be fair, or even to pick the best quality, but in fact their job is to reject most people according to their opinions; so we need people like you to help share our arts with others, as part of an organic market system.

Being self-employed it is much harder to handle difficult clients that are unappreciative and do not want to pay; regardless of whether they could or could not do a better job if they did it themselves. Some let you waste hours of time, before they say they will do it themselves or hire someone else. Often because they refuse to talk on the phone about negotiating problems, because they do not have the patience to compromise their willful egos, or they just dont care. Some people do not know what they want, but when you show them, they know they dont want what you made. Control freak clients are not always right, they are to be avoided unless they pay upfront.

If you are confident that you know your limits, insist on taking the time to explain everything to clients up front. Some will lie and say they understand, when they really do not; but you will find out later. As soon as it becomes clear time-after-time, or from a major power-play that things could end up in law-suits in the court-room with lawyers and judges, it is time to end work as fairly as possible.

So please sympathize with those of us that need to maintain our own limits, and cannot abide the authority of others, unless pay is substantial. Share our work with others, as it is the only way to by-pass the cut-throat system. Otherwise, we fall through the cracks of civilization.

As some authors of ethical business suggest, when a potential client turns us down, imagine that they have just paid 20 bucks and warned us not to work with them. In this way, we can thank them for saving us gas money and stress in the future. It is often best to “Wish them well” (Rush), and “Carry on” (Kansas).

How we find success and happiness

Posted in Psychology, Religions with tags , , , , , , , , , , on November 9, 2014 by Drogo

We can only truly be happy the more we take steps to become closer to our spiritual source in the Universe. The closer we go towards one-ness and unity. It can be done through the purest forms of religion, although the organized structural part of it may take us away at times. I mean, through religion people have the opportunity to connect to their personal source of consciousness whether they realize it or not. Religion can be a tool to get to more consistent achievement, satisfaction, and joy. However, once ‘there’ in our spiritual hearts, religion can become a concrete form of rigid dogmatic belief, which often has been used to create personal guilt, neighborly strife, foreign persecution, and World conflict.

We know we can go into churches, books, hearts, and minds to find success and happiness. Since we know where to go to seek happiness all the discussion is about HOW to get there. Artists reach points in their performances where they cease to be operating as an individual, and reach a higher place of being (consciously and sub-consciously) while playing their music. Athletes get to a place where they let go of their conscious efforts, and operate as if their sport is being done for them. Striving to get to this place where we feeling immense union, love, and harmony can be done through numerous ways in the human experience. The true key to happiness is to pursue a path that will be able to bring you there (rather than away). Your investment must become deeply committed.

Secondly, in our need to return to one-ness, we can be lead to oppose separate-ness, or experiences that further create individualism. Wars, fighting, violence power struggles, control all are experiences because of separation. Therefore, as a way of ‘how’ to proceed towards success and happiness is to invest your life energies into the opposite from that which sets us ‘apart’. Involvement with peace making, environmental stewardship, conflict resolution, physical, emotional and energy healing, music & all art forms are all meaningful operations that lead towards greater happiness and success.

None of us live in a vacuum, and we certainly are individuals capable of either self-awareness or selfish greed, or both; we can change our minds and act against our best interests even during the course of a day. The 3rd dimensional material world and ego-mind play out here. We all have the choice to live in suffering, or to move towards union with a source. I think we must consider shifting our lives and activities away from ego-dominated selfish pursuits or single-minded competitive aspects; but more-so to meaningful unifying humanitarian measures to further our collective existence together.

If anyone has a digital file for a book, i can publish it for about $100 within a month. That is a very low price that the author can pay for my services, to do all the work of format editing and publishing on Amazon and Kindle. It usually takes me over 10 hours, so at $10 an hour that is quite a deal!

Any book sales I will report and share with the authors. It is in my interest to do so, because we could make more successful projects. Identifying success potential is key. I have published over 20 books. Want more information on SCOD publishing? Find me on Facebook or click HERE to collaborate on a book project!

Ultimate Responsibility

Posted in Philosophy with tags , , , , , , , on February 25, 2014 by Drogo

Many people believe that we are entirely responsible for our own lives, happiness, and everything that happens to us. “No Excuses!”

I can think of a few excuses; like torture and illness. But yeah if we dont kill ourselves asap, then everything that happens to us is on us i guess…  since our brains make effects. Interconnectedness certainly plays a part too though….

I am not entirely convinced that we are ultimately responsible for everything we experience, but we certainly have some control in some areas; yet NO CONTROL in other areas.
