Social Anarchy Dream

Poetic Essay by Drogo Empedocles

Social psychology is affected by our social subconscious, metaphorically translated from and by cultural myths, regional legends, and local lore. In Jungian terms, we have collective dreams….. The split in philosophy between science and psychology is largely ignored by the masses, due to politics and economics. Our current political-economic model of Capitalism ensures that the masses remain subjugated, and the masses are increasingly aware of that. When having a car becomes required for lower class jobs, having a car is no longer a luxury, it is a burden of responsibility. Each new mandatory requirement of society, becomes a shackle upon humanity. If some of those shackles can be removed by government, it would be possible to have real democracy. That would then bring up the need to define democracy relative to our needs; which is the question of what natural or civil rights are, and how they should be allowed to be expressed by law.

But of course some say government is always a problem, and less of it is better than more regardless of population; yet I cannot stop thinking that with more population is more government needed? Indeed perhaps every citizen should be an ambassador or counsel for council some times. One might call that social anarchy.

Facebook is Dysfunctional

Posted in Commercial Corporations, Critical Commentary of Civilization, Multimedia Communication, Services, Sales or Trade, Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , on April 7, 2017 by Drogo

It isn’t just people with problems, the design of Facebook is dysfunctional.

Facebook is a clever concept, and works ok to connect people from around the World. However there are always many glitches in the programming, unnecessary updates that confuse more than help users, and few options for user control over the format. Many of the important utility icons are stupidly tiny, disproportionate with their function. The feed-streams and advertising are needlessly over animated, which creates loading glitches and mistakes. Facebook is poorly designed and has problems.

Rather than helping artists to make money, they ban the accounts of anyone pushing socially-acceptable boundaries. The best part of Facebook besides the basic operations, might be the easy way in which money transfers work. However there should be more ways for people to make money online, if only the 1% would create some jobs that we could do for them on Facebook (not holding breath). It is very difficult to get attention for personal independent advertising, even when you pay for it; and it is rare to get paying clients through Facebook (in my experience).

Worst of all about the design is that there are many ways to cause problems with other people’s accounts, like accusing them of ‘copyright’ or ‘nudity’ violations; both of which favor mega-corporations rather than individuals; AND no good way to defend the accused against the claims, while the accused are immediately judged and punished without trial (banned from posting, items deleted, threatened that account will be removed, and/or account disabled).

Facebook, as much as any media bound by laws, plays a role in censoring society because so many people use it. Facebook (FB) has chosen to punish people on their own pages for artistic expression, while the company reaps profit from ads. FB is part of the authoritative narrative that maintains that female nipples are obscene, and all human bodies in their natural state should be shamed. Human genitals that are responsible for giving us LIFE itself, are banned; as FB encourages society to continue to consider our sacred parts rude, offensive, and inappropriate for public knowledge or art.

The women of Pussy Riot and Femen are protesting in Europe more shockingly than in America, ironically because they have less freedom and less legal rights. Women in America have become complacent because they have largely bought into the commercial corporate male model of society. Those European martyrs are exposing their vulnerable bodies, shouting with their fragile voices, and putting their spirits in danger because we live in authoritarian state-run societies. Societies (as a whole) in Civilization evolve as cultures change through-out Time, and are influenced by those willing to defy traditions or conventions; often at the expense of their own safety.

The small text size in pop-up screens makes it very difficult to write significant messages to people. FB works best as a simple superficial message sharing commercial service, but it is barely adequate in message functionality, and fails to allow free expression by the user on their own pages. Artists have a difficult enough time in society, without being told they cannot show their own work on their own virtual page if FB or anyone else disapproves of it.

In protest of these problems I am going to start using other platforms more. Perhaps another form of social-media will help citizens to communicate better and share their lives and work without as much commercial intervention. Slowly society will grow and progress towards harmony with Nature and our own natural nudity. Diaspora and blogs seem to be a better way for free expression.  Democracy Cannot be Corporate.

How we find success and happiness

Posted in Psychology, Religions with tags , , , , , , , , , , on November 9, 2014 by Drogo

We can only truly be happy the more we take steps to become closer to our spiritual source in the Universe. The closer we go towards one-ness and unity. It can be done through the purest forms of religion, although the organized structural part of it may take us away at times. I mean, through religion people have the opportunity to connect to their personal source of consciousness whether they realize it or not. Religion can be a tool to get to more consistent achievement, satisfaction, and joy. However, once ‘there’ in our spiritual hearts, religion can become a concrete form of rigid dogmatic belief, which often has been used to create personal guilt, neighborly strife, foreign persecution, and World conflict.

We know we can go into churches, books, hearts, and minds to find success and happiness. Since we know where to go to seek happiness all the discussion is about HOW to get there. Artists reach points in their performances where they cease to be operating as an individual, and reach a higher place of being (consciously and sub-consciously) while playing their music. Athletes get to a place where they let go of their conscious efforts, and operate as if their sport is being done for them. Striving to get to this place where we feeling immense union, love, and harmony can be done through numerous ways in the human experience. The true key to happiness is to pursue a path that will be able to bring you there (rather than away). Your investment must become deeply committed.

Secondly, in our need to return to one-ness, we can be lead to oppose separate-ness, or experiences that further create individualism. Wars, fighting, violence power struggles, control all are experiences because of separation. Therefore, as a way of ‘how’ to proceed towards success and happiness is to invest your life energies into the opposite from that which sets us ‘apart’. Involvement with peace making, environmental stewardship, conflict resolution, physical, emotional and energy healing, music & all art forms are all meaningful operations that lead towards greater happiness and success.

None of us live in a vacuum, and we certainly are individuals capable of either self-awareness or selfish greed, or both; we can change our minds and act against our best interests even during the course of a day. The 3rd dimensional material world and ego-mind play out here. We all have the choice to live in suffering, or to move towards union with a source. I think we must consider shifting our lives and activities away from ego-dominated selfish pursuits or single-minded competitive aspects; but more-so to meaningful unifying humanitarian measures to further our collective existence together.

Social Anxiety at Public Parties or Pubs

Public Parties, Pubs, Clubs, or Bars and Social Anxiety

Thoughts by Drogo Empedocles –

The older I get, the more freakishly strange it feels to go to bars; its always been an odd feeling because it is so different than the rest of society… and yet not odd enough for me, i cant quite explain it.

I am not straight-edge, and I do not consider myself a drug ‘addict’; I strive for moderation most of the time, in most things. However I do like to ‘get out every-once in a while’ and be social, or even host parties; so i would like to express some feelings i have regarding the psychological issues i experience.

Even just to go for music it trips me out. People at parties are a different experience, i remember first learning this at my house as a kid when my parents had Gallery Shows. Some of the social anxiety pressure i think has to do with the amplified volume of collective energy, emotions, and noise. Voice volume gets raised, just to have a conversation or say anything at all; then by nature it feels aggressive or hostile even.

Differences between people aside, im wondering if it is simply the odd condition of people relating to each-other in a much more familiar way than outside the bar? I think it makes it very strange when someone does not interact by those rules in some way, whether being quiet or not wanting to be touched in anyway, etc…

Diversity is important, but it makes for interesting dynamics. Hunter vs Prey scenarios, and what-not. It is funny because im such a sensual and compassionate person at heart, im cool with mutual public affection of common forms, but i realize some other people are not for various reasons, including relationship contracts; and therefore this presents ‘issues’. Usually the most gregarious types of people will be the ones at the party or bar, yet there will inevitably be a minority of introverts or people hostile to affection.

At this point I do not have many conclusions. Perhaps it is simply best to generally avoid the conflict of personalities in any public setting, especially parties and bars.  Yet parties and bars are considered the most fun, and appropriate for Holidays and Celebrations! Hmmmm. I guess I’m somewhere in the middle on all of this, since I am a compassionate introvert at heart, that does occasionally like the thrill of adventure.

Personality Masks

Posted in Critical Commentary of Civilization, Philosophy, Politics, Psychology with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on May 27, 2013 by Drogo

Here is a quote concerning the complex issues regarding our personalities, society, and social ‘masks’.

“To become—in Jung’s terms—individuated, to live as a released individual, one has to know how and when to put on and to put off the masks of one’s various life roles. ‘When in Rome, do as the Romans do,’ and when at home, do not keep on the mask of the role you play in the Senate chamber. But this, finally, is not easy, since some of the masks cut deep. They include judgment and moral values. They include one’s pride, ambition, and achievement. They include one’s infatuations. It is a common thing to be overly impressed by and attached to masks, either some mask of one’s own or the mana-masks of others. The work of individuation, however, demands that one should not be compulsively affected in this way. The aim of individuation requires that one should find and then learn to live out of one’s own center, in control of one’s for and against. And this cannot be achieved by enacting and responding to any general masquerade of fixed roles.”

Utilitarian Debate Metaphor

Posted in Matras Quotes Tips with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on February 9, 2013 by Drogo

This parable is about the interaction of two units, and their relationship. When trying to loosen a pipe and meeting resistance, I try to remember to try turning it another way; because if I am wrong about the direction I can break it (ive broken nuts and threads before). Debates are communication interactions between sides of an issue, regarding differences, advocating one over another for the sake of proving cases; this is similar to sex, plumbing, and carpentry.

The sexual connection between the male part (pipe or bolt) and its female fixture (linkup or nut) is a metaphor for discussions, besides being a useful plumbing or carpentry tip.  Cooperation being the proper function of tightening or loosening, between the two objects. Strongly stressing an issue or party in one direction may result in fractures. Sex is also naturally related to Life in general.

Disagreements

Debates, arguments, discussions, differences of opinions, spats

SCOD encompasses science, art, history, agriculture, architecture, etc. based on active member consensus, but SCOD Facebook Group is NOT A DEBATE FORUM. The purpose of the SCOD FB Group is to educate the public and find new potential members with the desire to sustain mutual cooperation on scod projects.

SCOD is styles, fashions, movements, and the ways in which our lives interact, and are affected by theories, thoughts, dreams, and ideas. Worlds of scientific laws, and worlds of artistic impressions meet at SCOD; somewhere between psychology and philosophy. Most of the important debates have been debated, and we have arrived at various conclusions, which we are acting on, towards achieving scod theory goals.

We must find ways to support each-others’ projects, in what ever ways we can. Most important is positive feed-back, and emotional support for people; because criticism is so common in daily life for most people that are different. Diversity in projects is important, and I want people to be able to do things, and proudly say it is in keeping with SCOD.

SCOD is less about Dogma, and more about Love, Freedom, Nature, and Art. Those who have the responsibility to protect the group, some-times need to make decisions to excuse disruptive chaotic characters from group activities, to allow them to function more independently. This will allow the group to co-create substantially, and let individuals that disagree to do their own thing, as part of SCOD or not.

I believe in asking questions, rather than the popular trend of making fun of free-thinkers or rejecting differences. What one person sees as true, another might see as false; even if they are actually seeing the same thing but calling it by a different name. Theories become reality, and reality can become theory, and fiction can be based on either. Language is complex in that we are always ‘translating’ or interpreting what we think other people are saying with words that they think they are saying, which vary at different moments in time depending on mood, circumstances, and context.

The only danger I can see regarding allowing questions and ideas that others think are false, would be in acting on false theories, at personal risk. For example thinking that all police are androids, and so we try to deactivate their power source located in their groin area. But we do not always act on our thoughts or opinions. Otherwise I like to entertain all theories that I can, and actively pursue the theories that I think are worth it.

Also, the person that posts something may have complex opinions regarding the post. In some cases the person posting may think the post is false, and are just either being funny, trying to be rude, or curious about how other people will respond. So i tend to let things go if i can, and mainly encourage as much posting of interesting things as possible… with few exceptions, such as spam, repeats, industrial commercials, etc… Debating is important, and can be a great event, however I think it is good to be specific about details when challenging someone else’s posts. Opinions are personal, just like art, no matter if it is seen as “true” or “false”, that is why it is more important to respect the feelings of other members, rather than risk wasting tons of time by debating one issue. If people want to argue more than compromise, i recommend forming a separate debate group, make their own blog post, or carry on privately.

In our Cooperative, do not worry so much about responding to every annoyance or conflict. I would rather we focus individually on feeling good, rather than arguing with others. We should take care of each-other, with compassion; and take time out for ourselves for meditations and healing our health. Contributing members should be free to post things that express their own opinions, even if sometimes the posts are not agreeable to others sometimes; but an organic line can be drawn between major and minor disagreements; and the ability to distinguish is an ART not a science.

“We must act, though our efforts be imperfect. The path to sustainable energy will be hard, but we must do it.” – Obama on the radio during 2nd Inauguration.

Do what you like to do, and it will be good. SCOD will be there for us, because it is the space where the play takes place, and the play itself. In that way, everything we do counts. Diversity is important, and so we provide a haven for people that are not with popular opinion, whether it is science, art, religion, or culture. Our membership numbers are fed by our tolerance rather than our exclusiveness. SCOD may someday have a membership of zero, but it will not be for lack of trying. There must be a balance of questioning and decision making; and that must be determined by the active members who accept that responsibility.

SCOD members come and go, and those of us willing to lead, must also make a point to thank all those who advance and add to SCOD, even those who leave the group despite having been major contributors. Wishing well, blessed be. Thank you!   – Drogo
