‘We Are The Tongue’ aka ‘On This Good Green Earth’

“We are the tongue that speaks the truth

we are the song upon the wind

we are the courage to stand forth

we are the change that now begins

on this good green earth we will take a stand

with an open heart and a healing hand”

– Marcus

What Shall We Do With The Climate Sceptic 3x
Early in the morning.
Ooh ray and up we’re rising. 3x Early in the morning.
Lock (Throw) ‘em in a room with nothing but money. 3x
Early in the morning.
Let ‘em explain to their children’s children
Early in the morning.
Let ‘em get wet in the rising waters
Early in the morning.
Let ‘em get scared in the forest fires
Early in the morning.
Ooh ray and up we’re rising. 3x

My Correspondence With Begum Buel, by Drogo Empedocles

Begum Buel is a LA post-modern pop-artist-musician who despite popularity actually had some text message conversation with me (a brush with famous people happens to even under-ground creatures sometimes). She sent me (and other fans) her new songs and asked for feedback. This is what i wrote her –

Regarding her music video ‘Advice’ August 15, 2019

You sent August 15, 2019

i love it, thanks. You sent warholist pop yay lol

Begum sent August 15, 2019

Hey thank you so much for taking time to checking it out!!

It would be awesome if you could leave the comment on Youtube !!!

You sent August 15, 2019

is this an automated pop-marketing machine who is writing to me?

Begum sent August 15, 2019

No it’s me!

You sent August 15, 2019

very well produced video

Begum sent August 15, 2019

Thank you! I produced it

You sent August 15, 2019

hehe wow. very complex matrix lol

Begum sent August 15, 2019

:))

You sent August 15, 2019

ok ill write you a comment on there, i love the Bjork-Grimes-Cranberry pop flavor.

Begum sent August 15, 2019

Thank you so much for your compliment!

You sent  – nice of you to advertise to me personally 🙂

Begum sent August 15, 2019

Thank you for responding me!

You sent August 15, 2019

ive learned when i feel envious when experiencing art or writing, i want to merge myself with the artist in some way spiritually, rather than destroy them. the same goes for all people i might be jealous of; because i write and publish theory that we are all artists, and at least need to be recognized by the market as human beings, regardless of ability to express. – your personal art critic message, in private. i think your video speaks about this desire for contact and also individual recognition. really amazing Buel

Begum sent August 15, 2019

Thank you so so much!!!! I wish everybody could be as sensitive as you are!

You sent August 15, 2019

im not famous but i publish art and writing every day to a small audience, and so i do deal with “advice” and will power of opinions every day. My sensitivity awareness i started developing around 1999 during architecture critiques. thanks sister! keep the faith, the opinionated struggle is real!

Begum Buel sent another video link with fan response request later on Dec.5, 2020

So i wrote – In the world of your ‘Lemon Smile’ video: “People who are too nice  are chronic masturbators” lol; and you dont want superficiality, you prefer the boxing ring of ‘real’ opinions in that video clearly lol. 240,000 views so far, congrats again Buel! i have been thinking about those issues too, whereas my work usually gets far less views (like 1 or 2 friends). I was reading a ‘stoic essay’ by an author with a corporate book deal, and their opinions seemed to contrast with my own ‘stoic notions’; the issue of the Lemon Smile or Sour Expression is thought provoking. Bitterness comes to mind concerning competition of ideas, so maybe those of us who are jaded cynics always have to choose between sour or bitter lol idk. Interpretation of gestures and intentions is a world to get lost in mountains of semantics and continents of languages. thanks for sharing, hope you like my response today as i sip some coffee in my study. [Then i sent one of my new audio projects] You must be so drained after your pop work is produced, i imagine it is like writing books or any long project, we go through hell with ourselves in preparation for critics that are part of us.

Begum sent Dec.5 at 12:51 PM

Hey! Thank you so much for watching the video, and I absolutely loved how you read into all the symbol and metaphors. This is the kind of audience I really always wanted. Would be really awesome (yes you already know) if you commented that on Youtube!! 😁 I will listen to your postmodern business theory, just noticed it’s 30 mins long so I will need a more spaced time frame.

[ then I teased about ‘the expensive of spending time’ on me, and sharing some of my links and info she might like ]

We swim in oceans of emotions, and we sail in relation-ships;

no more voting for corporate pricks;

we think and feel, and vote for those with appeal;

because clouds are real, clouds are real, yeah clouds are real.

Sleep Song by Drogo

My mind is almost gone,

I don’t know what’s going on.

Lulled by a lovely tune,

I will be asleep soon.

Some way, some how,

I am going to the land of sleep now.

Good-night.

Song of the Piper

Posted in Poems, Rhymes, Riddles, Uncategorized with tags , , , , , on February 5, 2016 by Drogo

There is a little bird behind my house

whose first song speaks of the start of day ;

He heralds his voice like a piper’s tune

and very soon the others follow.

Then when dusk comes on and the day is done

I hear his melody once again

As he ushers out yet another day

and tells us all it is time for bed.

I may not sleep once his tune is sung

For unlike him I am restless ;

Still his song lingers on in my heart,

in my dreams,

‘Til I hear him again in the dawn.

Hey You Guys – Green Rap

Posted in POB Audio, Poems, Rhymes, Riddles, Song Lyrics & Analysis with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on May 6, 2014 by Drogo

Hey You Guys (Green Rap) – AMM SCOD concept by Drogo, lyrics by Codiak, rapped by Codiak

HEY YOU GUYS

People please wake up, our planet we are killin’;

Polluting all our resources, nothing left for the children.

Please think of the native americans before us.

Show respect for the mountains, open plains, and the forests.

Man-kind extinction, that’s what we are facing.

We maintain our cell phones, but mother earth we are defacing.

There is no way to deny it, there are changes in our climate.

Warfare and shrapnel, we care more about gain capital,

than the reservation (resurrection) of our fragile planet.

(Drogo, they don’t hear me man! Wake em up!)

HEY YOU GUYS

Man-made chemicals, factories, vehicles; form death called smog.

Best believe we are breathing it all.

Children born with disabilities due to radiation in facilities.

Poisoned waters, West Virginia took it personal, I’m from there.

Nuclear bomb testing, gunned down while protesting.

This ignorance is persistent, mother earth needs our assistance.

Can’t stand by idly, there’s a fight brewing inside of me.

Elephants and rhinos getting murdered for their ivory.

Families misplaced, industries they replace THEM;

It’s all about the money, what about THEM?

Pipeline running through the MOUNTAINS.

Gator belts and shark skins.

Love comes from the heart AND soul.

Our young ones gotta know,

tickin’ time bomb, and the world about to blow….

world about to blow….

not a word about the blow….

word about the blow…

New-Age Eclectic Pagan Bible  [see related article with links]

by Drogo Empedocles 2013

Multiple religious myths and spiritual magics for polytheistic Neo-Pagans

This book is a modern Eclectic Pagan Bible. It is the personal beliefs of Prophet Drogo Empedocles, and his interpretation of world religions, new-age philosophy, and neo-pagan magic. Polytheistic Celtic-Wiccan influence is finally proudly written here, in contrast to many Hebrew, Christian, and Muslim beliefs; because of their doctrines of cultural war against Pagans. As a handbook guide of holy Pagan scripture, this book is meant to be a shield and a sword for our faith, in the hands of the chosen guardians.

Eclectic-Pagan Celtic-Wiccan New-Age Bible

The word bible, is from the Greek word biblia, meaning simply books. According to religious tradition a bible is also a canon of holy scripture; an authoritative collection of rule books. The dominant rule of this bible is the proclamation of a new covenant with modern religion, culture, and individuals in the form of universal spirituality, and acceptance of unique personal magic. Most of the major religious rule books are now outdated guides. Please help spread the good news of the Pagan Bible!

In various religious and spiritual writings, we may find some answers; or at least stories we can relate to, and are helpful. We may also become upset or troubled by what we read. One curious pattern to notice about written history and other bibles, is how their texts ignore and degrade goddesses, women, and nature-based faiths in general. While mythical stories may be interesting, it is only through our own self-realized connection to civilization and nature that we may put ourselves in context with the true Universe. Remember we are not alone, even when we feel alone.

My name is Drogo Empedocles, and I am a faery. Well, part faery anyway. It is complicated, so I will explain my blood line later. I call myself a faery because fae magic is in my blood, and most of my friends are faeries of one kind or another. I wrote this as my bible, and it is based on my beliefs and my home town. I encourage everyone to write their own bible.

THIS IS THE FILM THAT JACK MADE

This is the girl who’s blown away

Whose in the film that Jack made

This is the creep who stalks his prey

Who blasts the girl whose blown away

Who’s in the film that Jack made

This is the ax that splits the head

That’s swung by the creep who stalks his prey

Who blasts the girl whose blown away

Who’s in the film that Jack made

This is dude who winds up dead

From getting the ax that splits the head

That’s swung by the creep who stalks his prey

Who blasts the girl whose blown away

Who’s in the film that Jack made

This is the Salesman from Omaha

Who calls on the dude who winds up dead

From getting the ax that splits the head

That’s swung by the creep who stalks his prey

Who blasts the girl whose blown away

Who’s in the film that Jack made

This is the handy electric saw

That slices the Salesman from Omaha

Who calls on the dude who winds up dead

From getting the ax that splits the head

That’s swung by the creep who stalks his prey

Who blasts the girl whose blown away

Who’s in the film that Jack made

This is the carnage of blood and gore

That’s made by the handy electric saw

That slices the Salesman from Omaha

Who calls on the dude who winds up dead

From getting the ax that splits the head

That’s swung by the creep who stalks his prey

Who blasts the girl whose blown away

Who’s in the film that Jack made

These are the profits of bucks galore

That come from the carnage of blood and gore

That’s made by the handy electric saw

That slices the Salesman from Omaha

Who calls on the dude who winds up dead

From getting the ax that splits the head

That’s swung by the creep who stalks his prey

Who blasts the girl whose blown away

Who’s in the film that Jack made

On the Way to Saint Ives

As I was going to Saint Ives,

I met a man with seven knives

49 hand grenades,

343 razor blades,

2,401 axes…

Axes, blades, grenades, and knives;

How many different ways to die?

Jack Sprat

Jack Sprat can swing his bat

his wife can spray her mace;

he’ll smack her hard

when she’s off-guard;

she’ll spritz him in the face.

Jack Sprat is knocked out flat,

his wife the worst of sights,

though bitter foes

at least it shows

they’re into equal rights.

The House That Jack Built

Posted in Song Lyrics & Analysis with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on October 10, 2010 by Drogo

The Legacy of Jack the Carpenter

Jack may not have been an architect, but it is usually assumed that he was the farmer/carpenter that built the ‘house’ (which is clearly a barn), rather than just the owner that did not even help during construction. If Jack was just the owner, it most likely would be “The House That Jack Owned”, or “The Home of Jack”, or “Jack’s House”. Also if Jack was the carpenter who built the barn on a farm, it was likely that he was also a farmer; as building timber frame structures is part of the agrarian legacy.

Regardless there is an architecture to the story, as it builds upon itself. Each verse becomes larger than the previous, as it includes all lines that were established prior. This narrative story type is called cumulative chain.

Even though it is a rhyme usually spoken, it is also listed as a folk song (Roud Index). There are Jewish and Arabic medieval examples, that predate nursery rhymes. Other popular cumulative chain songs to build upon previous lines are: “There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly” and “The Twelve Days of Christmas“.

THE HOUSE THAT JACK BUILT

Original with Jack as carpenter-farmer

Mother Goose nursery rhyme from the 1500-1600s

Classified as an Aarne-Thompson cumulative chain tale

This is the house that Jack built.

This is the malt
That lay in the house that Jack built.

This is the rat,
That ate the malt
That lay in the house that Jack built.

This is the cat,
That killed the rat,
That ate the malt
That lay in the house that Jack built.

This is the dog,
That worried the cat,
That killed the rat,
That ate the malt
That lay in the house that Jack built.

This is the cow with the crumpled horn,
That tossed the dog,
That worried the cat,
That killed the rat,
That ate the malt
That lay in the house that Jack built.

This is the maiden all forlorn,
That milked the cow with the crumpled horn,
That tossed the dog,
That worried the cat,
That killed the rat,
That ate the malt
That lay in the house that Jack built.

This is the man all tattered and torn,
That kissed the maiden all forlorn,
That milked the cow with the crumpled horn,
That tossed the dog,
That worried the cat,
That killed the rat,
That ate the malt
That lay in the house that Jack built.

This is the priest all shaven and shorn,
That married the man all tattered and torn,
That kissed the maiden all forlorn,
That milked the cow with the crumpled horn,
That tossed the dog,
That worried the cat,
That killed the rat,
That ate the malt
That lay in the house that Jack built.

This is the cock that crowed in the morn,
That waked the priest all shaven and shorn,
That married the man all tattered and torn,
That kissed the maiden all forlorn,
That milked the cow with the crumpled horn,
That tossed the dog,
That worried the cat,
That killed the rat,
That ate the malt
That lay in the house that Jack built.

This is the farmer Jack sowing his corn,
That kept the cock that crowed in the morn,
That waked the priest all shaven and shorn,
That married the man all tattered and torn,
That kissed the maiden all forlorn,
That milked the cow with the crumpled horn,
That tossed the dog,
That worried the cat,
That killed the rat,
That ate the malt
That lay in the house that Jack built.

Buck Flowens

Posted in Arts (Design & Performance), Music Reviews, Poems, Rhymes, Riddles with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on January 31, 2010 by Drogo

The musician known as “Buck Flowens” is a traveler. Shepherdstown in West Virginia would like to lay claim to him, as he has preformed there on numerous occasions. Yet, there are other states that seem to claim him as well, as he has travelled to them.

States of harmony, states of confusion, states of bliss, states of rebellion; you can hear their influence in his music. He travels to different genres of music, often within the same song, or set of songs; songs performed chronologically adjacent to eachother, yet stylistically miles (or oceans) apart.

Rich with content, he continues to share his excess music with the poor. The Acid-Rap alternative album “Microbiologically Influenced Corrosion” is no exception to this non-conformist rule. Buck Flowens encourages experimental creative-commons and shared mixes; freedom, old school.
